Meet Dr. Richard (Rick) Simpson

From Sports Fields to Chiropractic College

Chiropractor Lexington, Dr. Rick SimpsonAs a multi-sport athlete in high school (Soldotna, AK), Dr. Rick performed at his highest potential by eating healthy, getting good rest, and regular chiropractic care. “Anytime I injured myself, I would seek the care from my neighbor, which allowed me to get back to playing at a high level.” Seeing the benefits in his own life, Dr. Rick knew he wanted to be in the medical profession in some way, shape or form.

Seeing his mother who had so much pain, from Trigeminal Neuralgia, and having tried everything under the sun except an extensive chiropractic regimen; Dr. Rick investigated chiropractic more as a possible solution to her condition. Dr. Rick quickly learned that the human body is put together like an amazing machine and that when left to act without any interference, the body can and does heal itself.

After high school, Dr. Rick went on to play college football in Iowa. After sustaining an injury his junior year, he received chiropractic care to get back on the field as quickly as possible. “From what I had learned and experienced, it was a natural progression for me to then go to chiropractic college.”

Education and Certifications

To obtain his Doctor of Chiropractic, Dr. Rick attended Logan College of Chiropractic in St. Louis. A highlight of his time there was attending the National Chiropractic Legislative Conference in Washington, D.C. during his first three trimesters. He enjoyed meeting many whole body based doctors and discussing legislation to advance chiropractic.

Dr. Rick also earned a Master of Science in Sports Science and Rehabilitation from Logan and is the only chiropractor in Lexington with this degree.  During that time, he treated college athletes at the University of Missouri. He also received an Internal Health Specialist certification from the Loomis Institute and is currently pursuing certification in Applied Clinical Nutrition. Dr. Rick is a member of the Kentucky Chiropractic Association and the Kentucky Chiropractic Society.

The Appeal of Helping People

For Dr. Rick, it’s incredibly gratifying to help people feel their best without having to resort to prescription or over-the-counter medications. He’s had patients who have suffered from chronic pain for decades and within six weeks of chiropractic care were able to get off all of their meds. He’s also helped numerous women through their pregnancies and has adjusted their children.
